The Oral and Craniofacial Sciences (OCS) interdisciplinary graduate programs provide students with the knowledge and research tools needed to study oral and craniofacial tissues and organ systems. Through diverse scientific approaches, students develop a deep understanding of the structure and function of these tissues and the conditions and diseases that affect them. The OCS programs emphasize translating scientific discovery into meaningful advances in patient care and clinical practice.
The OCS graduate programs are dedicated to developing future leaders in scientific research who can transform fundamental discoveries into improved health outcomes worldwide. Grounded in the principle that innovation thrives at the intersection of disciplines, the programs provide rigorous training covering oral and craniofacial biology, molecular and cellular sciences, bioinformatics, biomaterials, and biophysics to address questions in oral and craniofacial sciences.
The OCS graduate programs are offered through the UCSF Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, administered by the UCSF School of Dentistry, and delivered by faculty from the UCSF Schools of Dentistry and Medicine. The programs offer the following degree tracks:
